Georgia Billger, Outstanding Athlete
Georgia has been competing in Delaware Senior Olympic for over 15 years. She has competed in several different sports including volleyball, softball, tennis, basketball and her latest hobby pickle ball. She has received gold medals in all the sports at the Delaware State Games, Eastern Shore Games and at the state games of other states. Recently Georgia has really developed a love for the game of pickle ball and pursues it with a passion. She served as pickle ball coordinator for DSO for two years. She is willing to help other players develop in the game. She promotes the game to beginners and advanced players and is always ready to share tips for improving their skill level to be successful. She gives of her time freely to help others advance. Every player in Sussex County women’s sports looks up to Georgia for her skills, compassion and dedication.
She has won many gold and silver medals in pickle ball in states from Pennsylvania to North Carolina. At a tournament in Downingtown, PA she placed second. At the Eastern Shore Games in 2015 she won gold medals in mixed doubles with her brother and in women’s doubles. During the 2013 National Senior Games in Cleveland she won the silver medal in women’s singles and returned to the 2015 Games in Minneapolis to bring home a gold!
DSO honors Georgia Billger, the best pickle ball player at the National Senior games in her age group, with its Outstanding Athlete Award.
