Outstanding Volunteer Award
Gino has been involved in Delaware senior Olympics for over 16 years. He began by competing in softball and has also competed in basketball, horseshoes and washers which he introduced to the DSO program three years ago. He has medaled in all three sports at the state level and has also medaled at the National Senior Games winning a bronze medal in softball in Louisville, silver medals in softball in both Houston and Cleveland and a bronze medal in basketball in Houston.
Gino also has served DSO well in many administrative capacities. He was Sports Coordinator for basketball for five years and continues to help with the annual competition. He also served as the Sports Coordinator for washers for three years. He currently serves as Sports Coordinator for softball. He served on the DSO Board of Directors for five years serving as our President for two years. Gino also directs a senior basketball league in New Castle County which runs from October to April each year and consists of twelve teams.
Gino has been a strong advocate in introducing Smart 911 to the state which allows first responders to have information about you in advance if they are responding to an emergency situation.
For his outstanding leadership and dedicated service as President, Board Member and Sports coordinator, and for his efforts to make our community safer, Delaware Senior Olympics recognizes Gino Mirolli with its 2013 Outstanding Volunteer Award.
